ABOUT PASSIONS KC
Passions KC is a locally owned adult boutique and leather studio in the heart of Westport. We believe shopping for intimate products, clothing, leather, and kink gear should feel comfortable—not awkward, intimidating, or rushed.
Our story began more than 25 years ago when Eugene Gruender and his son, James “Jimmy” Gruender and His Husband Paul opened the first Passions store in Boonville, Missouri. At the time, many adult stores were dark, uninviting, and designed almost entirely for men. Eugene and Jimmy saw an opportunity to create something different: a clean, well-lit store where women, couples, LGBTQ+ customers, and people exploring for the first time would feel welcome.
The family later opened a location in Columbia before purchasing the Kansas City business that became Passions KC. Although the Boonville and Columbia stores were sold in 2026 and are now under separate ownership, they remain an important part of the history that led us to Westport.
Today, Passions KC has developed its own personality. We are a kink-forward, queer-centered boutique, but everyone who walks through our doors is welcome. Our customers come from every background and range from experienced members of the leather and BDSM communities to people entering an adult boutique for the first time.
Our staff will answer questions, explain products, and let you take your time. Many of our items have displays that you can see, touch, or try on. We do not believe in pressuring customers into a purchase. Sometimes the best first visit is simply looking around, learning what is available, and discovering what feels right for you.
Our selection includes intimate products, lingerie, clothing, leather harnesses, accessories, fetish gear, gifts, and much more. Passions KC is also home to Leather Masters, our working leather studio, where leather goods are made, repaired, modified, and fitted on-site.
For us, Passions KC is more than a store. It is a place where people can ask honest questions without being judged, find products that fit their bodies and interests, and connect with Kansas City’s leather, kink, BDSM, and LGBTQ+ communities.
